HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My printer has been giving an cartridge jam error that I cannot resolve. I am unable to find any obstructing objects. I am unable to move the cartridge slider back and forth. I have tried resetting the printer with the power cord unplugged for at least 60 seconds. The error persists. Please advise as to how to proceed.

@PeterVolpone, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand that your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer is displaying a "Cartridge Jam" error and the carriage won’t move, despite trying a power reset.

Let’s walk through some steps to resolve this:

Check for Obstructions in the Carriage Path

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Gently try to move the carriage (the part that holds the cartridges) from side to side.
    • If it doesn’t move, do not force it.
  • Look for and remove any:
    • Crumpled paper
    • Dislodged labels
    • Foreign objects (like paper clips or torn paper)

Reset the Printer

  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid power strips).
  • Reconnect the cord to the printer and turn it on.

Check the Carriage Latch (if applicable)

  • Some models have a carriage latch. Make sure it is securely locked.
  • If the latch is loose or open, gently press it down to lock it.

Try a Manual Carriage Movement (Only if It’s Not Stuck)

  • With the printer off and unplugged, try gently sliding the carriage to the left and right.
  • If it moves freely, it’s a good sign. If not, there may still be an obstruction.

Update Firmware (Optional but Recommended)
