HP Photosmart 2710 Printer

I have a HP Photosmart 2710 printer.  It has worked very well but just now when it needed a new black ink cartridge and I inserted one it would not accept it and keeps saying "insert black or photo Print Cartridge in right stall."  What could be the problem.  I have inserted it a number of times with the same results.  Thanks to anyone who can help.

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! After reading your post I see that you are getting "insert black or photo Print Cartridge in right stall” message. I would like to help you out with this issue today.

Perform hard reset on the printer.

  • Remove the power cable from the printer when it is turned on.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30secs.
  • Connect the power cable to the printer and directly to the wall outlet.
  • Turn on the printer.

And make sure you insert the black ink cartridge on the right slot.

  • Open the print-carriage access door by lifting from the front center of the device, until the door locks into place.
  • When the print carriage is idle and silent, press down and then lift a cartridge latch inside the HP all-in-one.
  • If you are replacing the black, photo, or gray photo print cartridge, lift the black latch on the right.
  • Push down on the print cartridge to release, and then pull it toward the front the unit until it clears its slot.
  • If removing the black print cartridge to install the photo or gray photo print cartridge, store the black print cartridge in the print cartridge protector.
  • Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging and, being careful to touch only the black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab.
  • Slide the new print cartridge down the ramp and into the empty slot. Push the print cartridge forward until it clicks into place.

Let me know if that works.

Cheers.

I tried exactly what you said and it did not work. The message is still there and will not make a copy. It does print from the computer.

Hello, @bj771

I see that you were interacting with @sandytechy20. I'd like to jump in with a suggestion!

Going through your post, this looks like a scanner mechanism failure on the printer. Make sure to connect the printer directly to the wall outlet.

If the issue persists, then contact the HP phone support to get the printer serviced.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

If you have any troubles, let me know and I will do my best to help!

Good luck 🙂
