HP Envy 5050 all in one printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been setting printers up for years and this one seemed the easiest yet, download the mobile phone app, click a few buttons online and printing in a few mins.

 

I then went to a brand new laptop running windows 10, downloaded the app and drivers and after over an hour the stupid software still cannot see the printer that is visible by its IP address on the screen.

 

I can login to it from the pc and do everything via said IP but the HP "SMART" app can see it but keeps saying "it is offline" the scanner app cannot see it and nothing can see it. If I just add it through windows via the ip address it prints ok and did scan ok but now doesnt.

 

Anybody else set up this stupid printer on windows 10 and actually got it working as the support is total waste of time, scans through, finds the printer, asks what country its in, and then goes back to the first page again.

 

This could be my last HP if they are now all like this

I have ran all the tools and diagnostics, reinstalled all the drivers and apps and still it says offline. The diagnostic says there are no problems anywhere but still the issue remains with the apps and drivers.

 

clicking the app a couple of times forces a scan or print but this is no good for the other people using it

 

i have wasted more money in time than the printer is worth, it is not fit for purpose especially with the annoying shut down after 2 hours it does that the app doesnt wake up.

 

i have been installing printers for decades this is the worst one for just been rubbish

I am having a similar problem. I have a new envy 5050 printer and it will not print from any Microsoft Windows 10 products a - Outlook comes up with an error message “Printer not ready” while Word simply doesn’t print (no error message). The printer is installed and showing as ready and prints PDFs no problem. 

I can’t get any sense out of the virtual help. Any idea if this is a known issue with Windows 10?

@PCnerdo  I would like to confirm the issue that you facing is specific to scan jobs only or all other print jobs. If it is scan only, were you attempting to scan the job to a PC? Also may I know how and where did you download the SW package for your printer.

I only use the HP site and also allowed the so called diagnostics to redownload the correct drivers, they still dont work.

the software still constantly says the printer is offline it never sees it as online, it will scan back to the pc so the link is there and a couple of clicks of the scan link in the app will eventually trigger it.

 

it is just not good enough for £150 printer from a multi billion pound corporation

The issue is just related to print jobs. It simply will not print anything from Microsoft. 

the answer to everything seems to be to run your diagnostics. Mine is a work computer so I can’t just randomly download programmes. 

can you just confirm if this is a known issue and provide someone who I can actually speak to to get it resolved 

 

I agree with the other user - a company the size of HP should not be having such basic problems at the very least you should offer a human to speak to.
