I'm pretty sure it's My computer is connected to printer in wirless way My computer is connected to router w/ Ethernet cable .

My wifes is connected both computer and printer with Ethernet cable.

If your Wife's Pc is directly connected to Printer with Ethernet cable ( without router ), then it got to be a incorrect setup.

The right way is to have your wife's PC connected to Router ( Wireless/ ethernet ) and Printer connected to Router with Ethernet/Wireless.

Let me know if we have the right connection made.

Just to be sure. You saying: we should never of had both of our computers connected to the modem with Ethernet cables.

And both used a USB cable to connect to the printer? Of course it required us to dis-connect each others cable , and connect the computers that we wanted to print from. Every time we wanted to print. Because the printer keeps dropping it's  wireless connection.

When you say wireless/Ethernet  do you mean wireless or with an Etherrnet cable?

HP Recommended

If you want to have wirless printing, then the printer should be connected to Router ( not modem ) with a Ethernet cable.

Your PCs ( including your wife's pc ) should be connected to the Router either with Ethernet or wireless way.

USB cable and Ethernet cable are not same.

Wireless/Ethernet = it can be connected either in Wireless way or by using Ethernet cable.

The Modem and router are the same unit in my case.  I understand a cable is a cable whether it be USB, or Ethernet, or coaxial.

However wireless to me means (no) cable. So when you combine the two together ie- Ethernet/wireless.  I get confused.

Am I wrong?

I went back and see where we got off track...sorry. My wife's computer is connected to the Modem/Router with an Ethernet cable. Her computer is connected to the printer via USB cable.
