I used to be able to print with my IPAD on the wireless HP 6500 . Printer works and indicates wireless is on.

The router looks like a good router and the printer certainly supports Airprint.
Since it worked before, let's try to rebuild the network connection between the iPad and the printer.
1. Disconnect the power from the printer.
2. Power off the iPad completely.
3. Disconnect the power from the router for 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the power to the router and wait for the lights to return to normal.
5. Power on the printer and wait for it to power on completely and connect to the network.
6. Power on the iPad.
7. Try to print again.
While the steps may have been tried in a different order, this process works in most cases where Airprint was working and now it is not.

What errors do you receive when trying to print from the iPad?
At what point of the process does the error happen? For example, you receive "no printers found" when selecting print. Print is selected and the printer is listed, but nothing happens when you press print.
What brand and model is the router?

The brand and model should be on the router. Most routers will display their branding prominently, but the model is usually on a sticker somewhere on the router.
Also, is this the Officjet 6500 e709 series printer or the Officejet 6500A e710 series printer? This can be found on a label on the side, back, or bottom of the printer.

Mine is a 3050 series wireless printer that used to connect to Ipad, but now is not detected by Ipad or Iphone. It works fine wirelessly from my desktop computer. I have tried the suggested steps with no improvement.
