OfficeJet Pro 7740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I write in order to ask Hp to let people downgrade from April 2019 firmware automatic upgrade that blocked all compatible inks for printers. I've got an OfficeJet Pro 7740 and this upgrade caused me more than 500$ in damage. I had to throw away 10 compatible inks I already purchased, buy a set of originals and buy another printer from another brand in order to print with compatible inks.

This policy by Hp will make the company lose its customers. Fix it and don't do it again.

People won't buy your products again!

07/16/2019 Update: Heard nobody from Hp, the damage is still there, Hp shows no interest in the damages caused to the costumers.

07/25/2019 Update: problem still ignored.

09/26/2019 No updates.

11/12/2019 More and more users report the damage caused by the firmware, but no updates yet.

12/01/2019 EDWINXPP1N002.1942A.00 2019-10-15 firmware released but no fixes present, the printer still rejects every compatible ink.

JANUARY 2020: A solution had been found by users for users, not by HP that continued in IGNORING the issue. The downgrade is possible, despite Hp says it isn't.

Comment and ask other users here for the solution.... It will be given.

@Centounesima,

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP.

They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number.

Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact.

Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Thanks, but I think the problem does not concern my machine only but is a problem with the company's policy.

So the fix has to be a policy's fix and let people downgrade to the firmware we bought the machine with.

Can I have the private message too, please? This happened three years ago and back then, HP Apologied and offered firmware downgrading downloads: Dedicated to the best printing experience

No updates yet.

I also have an OfficeJet Pro 7740, and, since the April  2019 firmware upgrade, have not been able to use my printer with compatible ink-cartridges (...whereas prior to this, everything was working fine).

I'm sure HP must be aware that, under EU regulations, it is illegal to block the use of third-party compatible cartridges, so I would like HP to compensate me for the inconvenience I have already suffered, for which they are responsible.  Thank you.

On point, @TheTonester1

This Dynamic Security malarky will definitely keep me from buying another HP product, simply despicable.
