I recently replaced an older HP Photosmart printer with an Officejet Pro 8610. Before installing the new printer I went via the windows control panel and uninstalled all the HP software on my system.
Connected up the new printer and installed it's software and all works fine regarding the printer; I do however get an error message when I boot up requiring that I re-install TrayApp.msi.
A bit of googling suggests that this is related to some software (image/photo) that came with the old printer, if this is the case I no longer have those discs, and that software was supposedly completely removed.
I've seen solutions to get rid of this message that state re-install the software, however this isn't the software for my current printer so I don't want to do that.
I would like to find out how to completely remove whatever is looking for this application, which I guess is a registry entry....?
Any help greatly appreciated as the error message is starting to get annoying now!
Thanks.

Hi Ged_B,
Thank you for your reply!
Please use this, HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility, instead of the L3, as it will not effect the new printer software at all.
Hope this helps you, and have a great day!

Hello Ged_B,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that you are getting a message that you are missing TrayApp.msi with your HP Officejet pro 8600 on a Windows Operating System. I am happy to help you with this issue!
Please try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know what happens!
Also, what version of Windows are you using? Which Windows operating system am I running?
Hope to hear from you, and thank you for posting!

Thanks for the response.
The OS is Windows 7 64 bit.
I've run the diagnostic tool, which found nothing wrong with the setup of the Officejet Pro.
Wasn't suprised by that really as it appears that this error is being caused by something that hasn't been properly removed when I unistalled the old Photosmart printer drivers.

Hi Ged_B,
Thank you for your reply! Please try the following:
- Level-three uninstall. Fatal Error 'Error 1155. Not Found.' (MSI Error 1155) Displays During Software Installation in Windo.... This still applies to Windows 7.
- Re-install the new printer using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Hope this helps, and have a great day!

OK, I'm probably doing something wrong here, as it's just not working out.
Following your first link and downloading the driver for the old printer (Photosmart 2575) which I've saved to a specific folder - this is just one .exe file.
When you double click that file it says it's extracting, but I have no clue where it is extracting too, so a search for the Uninstall_L3.bat file returns no results at all.
Is it safe to use the installation CD that came with the new printer - I don't want to uninstall anything related to the new one as it all works perfectly?

My computer started showing the "missing TrayApp.msi" message after I installed software for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8600. I have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, and it found nothing wrong with either the print or scan functions. Indeed, the machine does print and scan. But this error message is really, really annoying. I have no idea what the TrayApp.msi file is, or whether I should have it or not. At about the same time I installed the additional software for the HP 8600, I uninstalled software for a previous printer I had linked to the computer. Until yesterday, the basic software for both (HP) printers was on the computer. But the 8600 did not work fully without the installation of additional programs. It was after I installed them that I started getting the error message. But now the printer will print from the printer screen, which it would not do previously.
I've spent hours trying to resolve this problem. Please help!

Hi Karen_Indonesia,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that you are having the same issue, and I am happy to help you!
Please use this program, HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility to remove all the HP Printer Software. Then clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows. Then I would re-install using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Hope this helps!
