I already did that but now it wont let me get to that screen . Quickly goes through a cycle in a 3 seconds and then tells me that the printer has a problem or the ink system. I had a good working printhead from my 8625 that was working and i installed that into the 8630. still came up with printer/ ink system issues.

This helped. Jumping printhead board with Aluminum strips. Dont know why it helped on a printhead that was already working on my 8620 but that printhead now works on my 8630. It didnt work anymore on my 8620. i will see what happens.
Still looking for help with clearing NVnand memory on the printers. you remove left panel and jump the board with paperclips. I know you need to have file ready to restore drivers and firmware but saw that you needed to use USBsend file. Anyone know anything about this?

I tried this trick with the foil. It was not successful. What the video doesn't warn about is that the contact springs are not necessarily captive so when you take the back off, the springs can fly out and get lost, which is what happened to me. Without the springs to hold the foil against the contact pads, it is hit and miss as to whether the foil will make contact. In my case, it didn't. Instead, I resorted to using blobs of solder to connect the pads. This worked although, from the poor print quality, even after multiple head cleaning attempts, I think I'm going to have to change the printhead anyway 😞

Same problem as everyone else - except that, in my case, it was the Magenta ink. The printer was working fine until I replaced the Magenta ink cartridge, and it claimed it was defective. So I replaced all the ink cartridges and got the Printer Failure message. I'm out nearly $100 for ink and still have to buy a new printer!

I had fortunately ordered the new cartridges from Amazon, so I reported them as defective and returned them (they were opened of course). I did get my money back on the replacement cartridges I’d gotten that didn’t work. Depending on where you got yours, perhaps you can return yours also. Hopefully a lot of ink returns will finally get HP’s attention. They’re certainly not concerned now - they’re happy for you to have bought worthless ink cartridges for an old printer, then have to go out and buy a new printer, and of course new ink (where the money is).

I ended up buying a new printhead and that restored my 8620 to normal working condition. I thought of buying a new printer, which would have been a cheaper option, but I didn't find a current HP model that had the same features and none use the same cartridges so I opted to keep the 8620 and replace the printhead. It is currently using the HP setup cartridges that came with the printhead. I hope I don't have any issues when they run out and I go back to using compatible cartridges.

same issues. cyan cartridge damage but brand new. was yellow, cyan and black until factory reset, cleaning print head in hot water and updating drivers. disappointing to say the least. Wasting money as they tell us to purchase new cartridges knowing this issue exists. We are all trying to fix because it has been so reliable so long to so many. Class action law suit
