My ENVY 4500 Printer keeps disconnecting sporatically. One minute I can print just fine, the next the printer can't be reached. The printer status shows "The printer is not connected."
This keeps happening from all the devices, not just my iMAC. I tried from my PC Laptop, from my iPad, iPhone. Same story. When it goes off, it goes off for all devices. I tried reinstalling the printer, tried restarting it, unplugging it. Nothing seems to fix it.
If I print the report right from the printer durring this time, it says everything is connected and no problems found (see image attached).
Then after a while, like an hour or two later, all of a sudden the printer will spit out all the prints that were sitting in the queue.
I have contacted the support and they logged into the printer and reset some settings and it started working, then about a week later it did it again. It continues to do this maybe once a week or so.
I don't know what to do any more. Anybody have any ideas?

Hi @valiik,
I wonder, have you tried setting a static IP? Assigning Your HP Printer a Static IP Address

Hi @valiik, thanks for reaching out to the HP Forums! I would be happy to help you with your Envy 4500.
I see that the printer has only disconnected from the network 1 time, thus I don't believe this is entirely a connection/communication issue. I do think it is a type of connection issue though. Let's try a simple potential fix first. One the front panel of the printer, please arrow down to and select Settings, then go to Wireless. In the wireless settings, please select Advanced Settings, then IPv6. Please choose Off in the IPv6 selection.
This this does not resolve the issue, we may need to power cycle the network for the IP changes to take affect. Let's leave the router on and unplug the power cable (NOTE: Do not reset the router), then do the same with the printer, and shut down the computer(s). After a full minute, plug the router back in, wait for it to fully power up, then plug the printer back in and wait for the wireless light to become solid. Once both the router and printer are on, go ahead and turn the computer back on. Doing this will refresh the network connection.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance. Thanks! 🙂

The IP settings were already set that way, so I went ahead and turned everythign off like you said and after about 10 minutes turned it back on in the order you specified. The printer came back and printed out all the docs.
Now the question is, will I need to do this power cycling every time this happens or if this is a permanent fix?
Does this tell you an underlying issue, why this was happening and is there something we can do to prevent it from happening again?
Thank you.

Hi @valiik,
it is hard to say if this will be a permanent fix or not. I suspect the issue should subside, but I think the best plan is for me to stay subscribed to this thread, and if the issue returns you can come back and let me know. I will then get a notification and will return to help 🙂

A little mor info for you on this.
I tried turning it off and letting it sit for about 10 minutes then turning it back on. This did not fix the problem. About 2 hours later it came back on by it self and printed out the docs.
