Full functionality was returned using Yosemite after downloading and installing from this CNET site:

I was beginning to lose faith.

Great. But it's too late to help me. I had to buy a new printer in order to restore functionality. It seem HP really dropped the ball on this.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

This worked perfectly!

I'm amazed that I was able to resolve this with your help, and without having to spend more time, more energy, more aggravation, and any $$$ to call up a paid computer service.

Seriously, I cannot thank you enough!

Initially, I thought this would be over my head, but i just followed your step-by-step instructions, and viola.....my scanner's now working!

Thanks again!

Uhoh....i think i spoke too soon!

While I am able to scan, I cannot "SAVE" the image anywhere on my computer.

Specifically, I used to be able to save it to either a document file or iPhotos.

Can you help???

Hi @NotTechSavvy2

I can certainly help. Which scan method are you using right now, scan from Apple Preview, Apple Image Capture, or from Print and Scan? Each program would be slightly different when it comes to saving your scans. Please post back to let me know what program you are using and what currently happens when you try to save.

Thanks, I look forward to helping you out with this.  🙂

I just do the following:

  Apple > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > (select your printer/scanner) > Scan > Open Scanner > etc.

Note that you can select the destination of the scan (folder, file name, file type, ...)

You can expand the right side of the scanner popup to include more or less details / options.

Play around.

Adjust things.

It's kind of fun.

Basically, do not use the front panel controls on the scanner.  Just use the software within your mac.

The software doesnt show a scan option. Even after installing & re-installing the drivers. No help.

HP Recommended

That's the original problem indication:  No scanner detected on the device within settings.

I had to delete the printer totally (select it on printers list and then click left side minus to remove it).

Power off and power on the mac (not just restart).

Install the new 3.0 drivers dmg.

Add the printer again and use the 3.0 drivers.

The scanner options should appear if all is well.

Same thing happened to me, but with 10.6.6 (I have an old Mac)

I got nothing and was hoping YOU had found a solution.
