It might be a good idea to try a new user profile too @dejones1 . This would help use to determine if the issue is something related to your current profile.

For some reason, the Mac will print, fax and comunicate wireless, but will not scan wireless. My solution was to make a hard wire connection which works, and very well I might add.
So I can use the Mac controls to scan and I can scan to the Mac now.
Thank you for all your help.

Hello!
I have followed the advice for re-adding my printer. This has just recently become a problem - i am unable to put my HP 2600n laserjet back onto my Mac (it disappearded...)
I am unable to generate a list of printers or drivers to choose from despite following the instructions.
I would appreciate any advice

It appears that my HP 8600 pro software has issues with the router and the wireless has conflict as well. I connected by wire and I now can scan. However, Being wireless was the main reason I made the purchase. Such is what it is. Live and learn.
I now have full function of the printer on my MAC

I am new to this type of communications. What type of value is this field expecting? The value of a quarter is 25 cents.
I assume that this note will be sent to the person who provided an answer to why we could not scan after we upgraded to Yosemite. I clicked on the black apple next to Finder and scrolled down to and clicked on System Preserences. Clicked on Printer & Scanners. Clicked on the Scan box above the device name. On the next window, I clicked on Open Scanner and another window opened next to the window that had the Open Scanner box. I went to the lower left selection box and in my test case selcted Desktop. I then moved to the lower right box and clicked Scan. Presto Zingo the scanner started running and the scan soon appeared on the deck top.
This method works to let a person set at their computer and get the printer to scan a document to the computer. This is a big help. thank you.
My question and request for help now is how do I get the scanner to recognize my Apple running Yosemite. I can be at the HP Officejet 6700 and select scan on the printer/scanner and a screen comes up asking if I want the scan to go to a computer or a memory stick. I select computer and the HP Officejet 6700 list all the other computers in the house but does not list the Apple. What do I need to do to get the Apple to show up with the other computers?
Thanks for whatever help you can give me.

Hi @DCook1967
In order to scan to the computer from the printer, you need to have the full feature software and driver installed on the Mac. I can hep you with this 🙂
Please use the following link to download and install the necessary software; HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Printer series - H711 Full Feature Software and Driver. Compatibility: Mac OS X 10.9 & Mac OS X 10.10.
If you already have the software installed and it is not working, you might need to set up the Enable Scan to Computer function.
- Click the Finder tab, and then click Go.
- Click the Utilities tab, and then click the HP Utilities icon.
- Click Scan Settings, and then select the Enable Scan to Computer box.
- Source and more helpful information: Scanning with the Full Feature HP Software in OS X v10.10 Yosemite.
Happy Scanning!
