I have an HP WIN10 computer and an HP Office Jet Pro 6978.   As others in this thread have posted, I too have uninstalled the printer, reinstalled it, cleaned print heads, realigned the printhead, checked the cartridges, etc.  I also returned a cyan cartridge to the store when this first started.

 

Nothing is correcting the issue.  I print text pages and only magenta and black print.  I want to use the color printer.  If so many people experience this, why isn't there a clear solution?

I had this problem yesterday and finally after reading all the posts I found one online that told me to uninstall the printer and then go into the folders for HP and delete all relating to the printer and reinstall the software.  Worked like a charm.  Just took me all afternoon to figure it out.  I was sent the same instructions by a HP person after I had already got it back working. i have pasted it below

Welcome to HP support community.

 

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers. 
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Update the printer firmware

Follow the steps mentioned in this HP document to update firmware:- Click here

I uninstalled the printer, software and drivers from the computer. Then I installed the drivers and software again. My HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 5575 can print in color now. But it can do this using e-mail only.

Yes that worked for me.  I think it was Windows 10 driver that went kapooey.  Thanks
