Hi,
I have recently purchased an HP Officejet Pro 6830 and after being set up it just doesn't want to print.
I can't print a test page on it's own but with the HP Print and Scan Doctor it prints test pages.
It can't print from any Microsoft Office 2013 Pro Plus software but I can print from the standard Notepad and Acrobat Reader programs.
I have tried everything I could think of!
-Reinstalling Software + Drivers
-Restarting the Printing Spooling service
-Reintalling Microsoft Office
-Deleting other Printers and its drivers
-Updating network driver
-Adding the Printer using the standard microsoft "add a new printer" action
-Running the HP Print and Scan Doctor which found pretty much no issues.
-Disabling my anti-virus and firewall
The printer is connected wirelessly everywhere and it has been setup on other computers in the house and it works fine with them. That's why I haven't returned it!
I'm an IT guy by trade but this thing has made me desperate enough to post a question here!
Any help would be grateful.
Thank You,
Paul

Hello @PaulVII , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you have issues printing. I'd be happy to try and assist!
Are you connected wirelessly? If so, I would recommend trying to install via a USB cable.
I would also suggest creating a new user account, and trying from there:
Another recommendation I would make would be to check your printers folder, and see what is selected as the default.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

Hello TedWallerstedt,
I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find which operating system you are using. Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit.
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Also, do you have the same issue when making a copy as opposed to a print?
Thanks!

I am running Window 7 32 bit (and a bunch of other systems), but that does not affect this issue.
The same problem exists with copying or printing a test page (or system settings, or anything else) with no PC involved.
All it does is spit out blank pages. If you can't help, this is going back to Best Buy.

Hi Ted, thanks for getting back to me!
I'd recommend removing the ink cartridges from the printer, and perform a power reset. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I'd also suggest following the steps in this document:
Please keep me posted!

I also have this problem. I now enjoy reminiscing about all the bad news HP has experienced in the last decade! You earned it!
I have lost half a day just trying to get this to print.
It will print a test page, if I use the troubleshooting link from this website. Other than that I just bought an expensive, ugly, oversized paperweight.
I send something to print, and God knows where it goes.
Printing from my mobile device works, but I have a business, and don't have time to operate using silly "workarounds".
I've tried the above, and now I am anxiously waiting for my chance to take this back!
Hint: your product sucks if an experienced user can not make your product work after installing all your software and following directions, including your troubleshooting options. I've lost enough money in productivity to buy 8 different printers to replace this.
in 20+ years of professional experience (not to mention 8 years of college and grad school), I have never before failed to get my computer to talk to a printer. You guys are exceptional at making this an awful experience
I will never buy from you again!
My last HP deskjet was junk also. Your bloated software is better at trying to upsell me products than getting the job done. I should have learned...
Ripoff!!
