My HP Envy 5540 has just begun printing in Black & White only from my PC running Windows 10 Home.  I have followed the instructions in this post.  I.e. Uninstalled and re-installed the printer, but it has not helped.  It will still not print in colour.  It seems to be an issue with the settings on this PC, because when I print the same documents (eg a pdf file) from my iPhone, the printed output is in colour. Does anyone have any clues?  Is there a setting somewhere which forces the printer to print in grayscale only?

Did you reinstall the printers software from the HP website or the CD that came with the printer? HP updated the software on the web a while ago and that was my problem, when I used the CD and turned off automatic updates, it started working for me and I haven't had an issue since. I forgot to turn off auto updates on one of my PC's and surprise surprise, can't print in colour again.

Hi there,  many thanks for the tip.  I  also had to remove all the HP software that was installed with the printer to get the setup program to work from the CD, but the printer is now printing in colour again from my PC.
