Hi,

Basically the same problem, tried everything, started with my out of warranty 5020 Envy - producing a Inkjet1.printer malware message, now after several attempts to install easy smart I've got a PDE plug-in malware message instead.

No way to contact HP meaningfully and VA useless.

HP must have known about the impending certificate expiry dates - I'm on inksmart so why couldn't they warn us?

The solution proposed doesn't work for me.

I have uninstalled and install again but while trying to print, I always get "waiting for the printer to be available.."

Please HELP....:(

Thanks for the info.  My MFP M225dn has been a fantastic printer, until this problem. I did the uninstall just fine.  But the HP Easy Install stopped with the message, "We are not able to automatically locate any software options for this product.  Please go to the HP Website and seiche for product solutions there."  I did that and it located the drive but it sent me right back to the HP Easy Start package from which I was sent into this message.  How do I get out of this Nasty Install loop and directly download the driver?

Again, thanks ~ Tony

When I download easy start, I don't get the uninstall in the Mac OS menu bar.   And a simple update doesn't work because I get to HP something or other and get the malware message.  I even had to force quite the HP easy start because I was locked in a no man's land.

I have had the same experience multiple times even after uninstalling the software.  I get told they can't locate any software options for my product....it tells e to go to HP Website....search for product solutions....and, same response....download Easy Start....and, back to the same experience and issue.... And, NO ONE Is available at HP........really bad customer service on HP's part.......

Alright, so I have found a work around and it worked well from me:

1) I did use the uninstall HP software (it didn't work properly and I decided to try anyway again)

2) I renamed the folder of the drivers to hp2 instead of hp (on MAC, the location is Root>Library>Printers>hp

3) I have installed the full driver package (go to https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/printers, find your printer model and then look for the full driver package)

4) Then I have added the printer again

IT finally worked great .

So maybe it's because of my printer model (Deskjet 1515) being very old, but it's really a bad experience HP people that we have to try by our own the fixes and share it here on a forum...

bad bad bad 😞

Easy Start uninstall grayed out. Install button on Easy Start itself goes gray after I enter password. What next?

Uninstall is greyed out for me too  - please help!

Look at the drop down menu as soon as you open Easy Start (before you click anything else) and Uninstall should be available.
