Hi,
Today I tried to my luck with usbsend.exe and the actual rfu, my printer reacts to usbsend and can take new updates with it (other then in the people having the 49 error). I can install various firmware's, best worked the 14MB version cljmfpM280fw_20220414.ENG.rfu. as i see a Completed 🙂 in the display. the 34MB version do not, as the system reboots itself before (also it installed the new version fine)
If I install my printer via USB001 i can use the HP provided firmware.exe as well, this time the printer starts it Programming right away, but honestly my system comes not back to life, it still states the Resend upgrade error. :*(
After calling the support today they are not willing to replace my device also they bricked it, the technician told me there will be another firmware upgrade coming out next week, which should also fit my device (M281fdw) but he can't guarantee that......
So exactly the same issue like @JLR281 has, the new firmware get stopped due to a reboot of the system to early from my point of view.
Update: Also tried to change the energy saving settings up, as they where on 1 minute, bu that was not the issue.

Thanks!! Did the HP support person say if the firmware upgrade/correction expected next week would be posted online? I ask because I had to directly load the one to 'correct' the "Resend upgrade" error so I expect the same will be needed to correct the malfunctioning rollers.

After 20221010 and the 49 service error was displayed, my 3yo M281fdw printer was completely disabled. Numerous attempts to unplug everything including my modem and router and then plugging things back in in various order did not change anything. 20221010 acted like a malicious computer virus for me. I purchased an Epson ecotank 5150 printer (print, copy, scan; 5170 has fax also) on Nov. 1, 2022 (after spending way too much time trying to save the M281fdw) and am very happy with it. Took the M281fdw to the recycling center as 20221010 rendered it useless. Never buying another HP printer or expensive laserjet toner cartridge again.
