Note for common printer problems
Customers receiving the"will damage your computer" message along with others like "unable to access cups/tmp" or "'@%' cannot be opened" need to update their version of the macOS. Reset password on printer

Hello, one of my staff set up a new HP Color Laserjet MFP M283fdw and mistyped our common printer password, so we are now locked out.  

 

What is the process to reset the printer to factory defaults with the administrator password set?  I tried the other recommended reset instructions but it requires the password.

I have a HP Direct-1E-HP Envy 7640/series. It was networked fine with all our devices. Suddenly, it dropped off my iPad, but still fine on other devices. When I try to reconnect it, PW is requested. Not aware of having a PW for this. How can I establish?
