My HP Pavilion is connected to my 2.4 Ghz wireless network as is my printer. When attempting a scan to PC from my printer, I see the message "No computer is connected". This just started a few days ago. If I scan to email it works fine. From the printer, I have reset the IP Address and the Password. The PC prints fine to the printer via the wireless network. Also, a remote laptop in another room connects and prints fine. I have run the Print and Scan Doctor twice. Both times it concludes the connection is good. Still, no scan from the printer. The box in the bottom toolbar of the PC continues to state "Scan to computer is currently unavailable". From there I try enable and checking the automatic start box but no change. I also downloaded the latest software updated 12/15 with no change. However, I have found if I use the application HP Scan on my PC that I have added now to my desktop, it works fine (from the PC). It is a little more "clunky" but it gets the job done. I would prefer to mange the scan from the printer. It was faster and easier. Does anyone know why the printer is failing to "see" the PC even though it is connected to the network and all of functions including scan started from the PC work?

Hi @Javauno, and welcome back to the HP Forums, as you know this is a great place to seek help from community members! I would be happy to help you with your Photosmart 7520. I understand from your description that you can scan when you initiate the scan from the printer software, but when you try to scan from the front panel of the printer the scan fails do to a lack in connectivity.
Being able to scan from the computer leads me to believe the connectivity is not the root cause of the issue; however, I did find something that could help.
This document contains information about the possible causes of a lost wireless connection, tips for avoiding the issue, tips for maintaining a connection, and troubleshooting steps to help you restore the wireless connection on your printer; Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
In addition to the solutions offered in the document and what you have probably already tried, please ensure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and not into a surge protector/ power bar. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
In this document you will see:
ISSUE:
Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
^ This is not limited to Laserjet printers.
It is also good, if you haven't already, to be sure the printer firmware is up to date. This Firmware update improves and fixes the following issues:
- Updates the FAX modem firmware to prevent false FAX Test failures
- Fixes issues in the networking that can cause the printer to become unresponsive
- Improves cloud print reliability
- Improves reliability of printing using HP ePrint and Printables applications
- Improves reliability of the printer Automatic Product Updates
- Improves support for AirPrint™
- Fixes miscellaneous minor defects
Firmware Update to improve functionality and performance.
Disabling the UPnP might be worth a shot too if the issue continues at this point. Use the steps below to disable UPnP in the printers EWS,
1. Typing the printers assigned IP address into the address bar of Internet Explorer. (you can get this from the report you would have printed while following the steps in the document I posted above)
2. Click on the Network Tab at the top
3. Select the Networking option on the left
4. Click on UPnP option on the left
5. Select the 'Disable UPnP' radio button
6. Click 'Apply'
And finally, I would like to disable to IPv6 on the printer. This setting can sometimes cause issues. Use the instructions below to disable the IPv6
- On the front panel of the printer, touch the Wireless icon, it's the second of the four icons on the top.
- Navigate through the Wireless menu to Advanced Settings and go to IPv6
- Turn IPv6 off
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance. In fact, if this helps you to reach a solution, please click the "Accept as Solution" button down below in this message. I will watch for a reply from you. Thanks.

Hi Sunshyn 2005,
I really appreciate you response but before I tried any of the suggestions, I noticed the box at the bottom of the toolbar saying Scan to computer unavailable was gone. Yesterday I updated the software and today, for other reasons, I ran a Norton Power Eraser Scan which restarts the PC. I don't otherwise turn it off very often--just allow it to sleep. Now the scan from the printer is working. Two successful test. Maybe it took the restart to apply the updates? However, I am saving all your tips as good troubleshooting advice.
I have reviewed the info on Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless connection and don't see any issues. My printer and PC are only 2 feet apart, the printer is plugged into a wall and while I do have a wireless phone, it is 6 feet away. The wireless router is between it and the printer. Yesterday I ran a Wireless Network Test from the printer and all was OK. I scanned it in as a jpefg. Here it is.
I did try to run the firmware update but could not. At the dialog box asking me to Update, it would try and then come back saying check to make sure the printer was connected, power on, no errors. All was as it should be. Repeat tries always failed. I am not going to pursue this for now.
Thanks again.
