Absolutely—this error has been frustrating a lot of HP users, and it deserves a clear, collective fix.
The “Supply System Problem” message typically points to an issue with how the printer is recognizing the ink or toner cartridges. Even genuine HP cartridges can trigger this if there’s a communication glitch, chip issue, or contact problem.
Here's a consolidated fix strategy based on HP’s official guidance and community-tested solutions:
🛠 Universal Fixes for “Supply System Problem” on HP Printers
1. Power Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
- Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
- This clears temporary memory faults.
2. Reseat the Cartridges
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Remove each cartridge and inspect for:
- Protective tape still attached
- Ink leaks or damage
- Dirty or bent chip contacts
- Gently clean the metal contacts on both the cartridge and printer with a lint-free cloth.
- Reinsert cartridges firmly until they click into place.
3. Check Cartridge Compatibility
- Make sure the cartridges are genuine HP and match your printer model.
- Some printers reject third-party or region-mismatched cartridges.
4. Update Firmware
- Use the HP Smart app or the printer’s Embedded Web Server to check for firmware updates.
- Outdated firmware can cause cartridge recognition errors.
5. Try a Different Cartridge (if available)
- If you have a spare or older cartridge, try swapping it in to see if the error clears.
- This helps isolate whether the issue is with the cartridge or the printer.
Let’s get this sorted for everyone.

I have already gone through all these steps. I purchased 2 more cartridges. Thankfully, Office Depot accepted the first 2 cartridges as returns. It's not the cartridges! HP doesn't let us speak to someone, so we are stuck in this endless loop of the same instructions over and over with no resolution. I'm not even sure I'm speaking to an actual person...I'm pretty sure you're a bot.

Come on - please stop reposting the same regurgitated rubbish and provide users with a real solution to fix this issue which is plaguing so many users. How is it that such a global business such as HP has such a major fault with printers that they cannot offer a solution too. Mind boggling.
perhaps a uses should form a class action to see if that will shake HP out of their lethargy??

I AM IN FAVOR OF PARTICIPATING IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. If there are any lawyers out there that come across this, this seems like an easy home run, given the size of the customer base, the lameness and market cap of the company, and how easy it would be to find participants. F YOU H P.
