hp officejet pro 8625
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Officejet Pro 8625 stopped working with (wireless) my Windows 10 HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC after update Version 1607 KB3194496.

My computer can still print wireless to our HP 8600 printer.  We have another laptop (HPEnvy-windows 10) and we can still print to either printer (8600 & 8625) via wifi with that HP Envy laptop.

I have tried connecting the 8625 to my router with an ethernet connection.   The "add Printer" process can't find the printer.

The printer IS definitely on the wifi network.

I have deleted the operating software for the printer and reinstalled it.

I have turned everything on and off several times.

For a couple of days my laptop was stuck in the startup mode with a blank screen and only the circle of dots showing.  Finally I got past that frustration only to learn that my computer will not "talk" to my printer.

My drivers are current.  I have gone through the HP troubleshooting.  No problems are found with the network or the printer.

I have received an error message somewhere along the line that my notebook is not connected to the network...which is not true.

FRUSTRATION!!!!

Hi,

Yes, KB3194496 is the killer. I'm a victim too and yesterday I did a simple fix for my loan HP Officejet Pro 8620 (which is a blood sister of the 8625). My loan printer has a static IP on my home network

(a) Reboot both computer and printer,

(b) Run as administrator printer software and driver:

        http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL51217/bi-124140-4/OJ8620_198.exe

(c) Follow onscreen instructions.

Bacically re-install the printer software and drivers.

Regards.

Thank you for the reply,  I have tried that same process several times with the same result:  a message that reads: "unsuccessful network installation...unable to be installed over the network?   Argh!  I appreciate your help!

PS:  I also took the process to the next level and tried the priner install using the IP address of the printer and received the same message.

I have gone through so many troubleshooting processes I have lost track...nothing is working to help me gain access to my HP Officejet Pro 8625 from my HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC, including the "troubleshooting HP Printer Software installation" suggestions.

And, to add to my frustration, last night our other 2 laptops (the HP Envy and an older Gateway) were updated with the latest Windows 10 version and they both print just fine to our 8625 AND our 8600 printers.   Good news for those two laptops, but still not a solution for my original problem!   Argh!!!

Any more suggestions would be most helpful.  I still have 5 months of warranty on the 8625.

My issue turned out to be Function Discovery Provider Host service being disabled.  Enabled and started and successfully completed network install.
