This is totally bizarre. I have used my printer extensively for scanning while on the original install on Windows 7. I always use the 8500 touchkeyboard and "scan to Network folder" and put in a file name. After the Windows 8 install, I get the file name in my directory, but the pdf file shows 0kb and won't open. I have installed the new driver. I have run the "Scan Doctor" and it says everything is OK. Printing works fine. I am on a wireless home network. Scanning to a memory device works OK and scanning using HP Printer Assistant works OK.
Just now, I tried scanning a 4 page doc to my network folder again. I'm not usually at my monitor during scanning, but this time I noticed that the 0kb file, with my correct file name, appeared in the designated scan Directory before the scan was completed!!!
I'm not making this up. I really don't know what to look for.

Hi,
Please check these to see if your printer was in the lists:

1. If yes, you have to wait, driver(s) will come soon.
2. If no, you have to wait longer and driver(s) may not come.
Regards.

Try uninstalling the printer's software and reisntalling it. Then, go through the digital filing setup agian. I'll link the drivers and the manual below. Let me know what happens.

I have the exact same problem when using the printer on either wired or wireless netwok. However the Digital Filing works as it is supposed to do when using the printer with USB. I have updated the software and the drivers but it is still not working.
How did you solve the problem??

I have been notified that a firmware update is nessicary to get this feature working in Windows 8. I'll link the firmware instructions below. That should solve the problem. Let me know what happens.

OK. I deleted existing driver, originally installed on Win7 and upgraded to Win8. Installed new driver. However, it could not find my wireless netword printer in the Desktop mode. I make many attempts with turning printer, computer, router on/off. But, Windows 8 App for HP Scan and Capture in Start mode works fine.
In Windows 8 App, No problem finding printer, scanning, printing,or even scanning from printer to Network Folder. Works great, like it should.
There exists a Certificate issue when trying to address the Embedded Web Server. This doesn't seem right.
Thanks for your help.

Can you ping the printer's IP address from the command prompt?
If you enter the printer's IP address into the address bar of the desktop version of IE, does the printer's embedded web server come up?
What is the brand and model of router you have?
What firmware version is installed on your router?
