Hi @Hockey22,
I'd like to help!
You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.
There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why its not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Jay
thank you for the response but the cartridges were working perfectly fine , until I had to unplug the printer to move it , the printer then did an update now the I cannot print and to be force to buy only HP ink cartridges I don’t think is fair .
can that update be uninstalled ? Or a factory reset the printer. This is very frustrating.

Hi Jay & other HP support agents,
Escaltate the message below to HP senior management. Morons...
I updated the firm ware, but it did not help. Why don't HP remove checking for the Chip? It is a simple solution that can be implemented by HP easily. What is stopping HP to remove the check?
Just for community, I bought a Brother brand printer that has no such non-sense created by HP. HP lost one loyal customer. Again as I posted earlier, which HP moron has come up with such a dumb idea? Make your product excellent and face the market competition. If your product is superior and affordable, there is not need to roll out chip checking software. Naturally, customers would prefer HP products. It clearly demonstrates HP has lost its R&D sprit and wasting its energies on non-essential activities. HP is fast loosing customer trust.

@Hockey22,
May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.
Keep me posted.

I have an Officejet 8010. It worked perfectly for more than 12 months and then suddenly the non-genuine HP cartridge message. HP does not bother to respond to my queries. Their helper on this forum has actually done nothing to support the questions posed - attempting to pose 'private messages' to some individuals so the rest of the forum having the same issues are not privy to the advice is appalling. I have decided to send my HP printer to the rubbish tip so that no other poor person has to suffer this. I have a Hp laptop as well and it is near due for a replacement. I will never purchase another Hp product again and will ensure my business network and others are aware of the issues I have faced re the printer and HPs total lack of responsiveness to this.
