I have the same error message and i have tried to download the software several times as a retry with the same result. The printer does not howevr appear in my settings menu so at the moment is useless. The printer is an HP Envy 5546 and my computer is a Macbook pro running Mavericks 10.9.5
Is there a solution or must I send it back to the vendor? Regards chris

Hi! @cjwj, I am the Mr.Robot. It looks like you were interacting with @sandytechy20, but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
As you mentioned the printer does not appear in the settings menu even after trying out the steps.
Try the steps recommended below.
• Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
• Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
• Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
• Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
• Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
• Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
• Restart your computer and then go back to System preferences – Printers and scanners.
• Click the “Add button” (+).
• Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer. Do not select an HP Fax driver.
• Click “Print Using...” or “Use”, and then select Secure AirPrint or AirPrint. Alternatively, you may select the name of your printer if available in that list.
Also, if the issue still persists after trying out the steps try updating the drivers using HP software update.
Download and install 5.1 drivers on your MAC using this link.
