Hello people in my computer...

I am having a nightmare with my printer (which may be heading out a window very very soon!).

There are no colour management options. The printer prints in colour from my phone but refuses to do so from my laptop. I have tried scan dr etc and every way I can think of to resolve the problem. I have installed, uninstalled etc etc i dont know how many times following advice on this forum:

I understand you are not able to print in color from your PC. Let us try these steps:

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Add a printer(at the top)
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
  7. Try printing in color.

If the issue persists, Install the printer using Windows built-in driver

Refer to this document to know how. Try printing

I still have no option to print in colour! given i have a HP laptop this should be an easy thing to resolve but no chance. Please save me and my printer as i am currently paying for instant ink i cannot use. HP may well loose a customer.

Kind regards people in my computer.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that your printer is not printing in color, I am glad to assist you.

This seems to be a driver issue, follow these steps to fix the issue

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer-related software.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer using HP Smart app.

Try this:

On your computer, go to control panel>devices and printer and then right click on the icon for your printer and select printer properties from the drop down menu. Click on the device settings tab and scroll down till you see "device type" and change it to color.

Sandy: Unfortunately i have tried the above numerous times. They dont work.

Trooper: Thank you ever so much for your suggestion. There is sadly no such option.

Try this, go to this hp link https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-deskjet-ink-advantage-3830-all-in-one-printer-se...

and under software-utility download print and scan package ( 1st option). Delete your current installation and unplug the printer from the computer and then run the downloaded installation package. This will ensure that you have an HP driver and not a Microsoft IPP driver installed. The Microsoft drivers often fail to recognize features of printers.

Have a look at :

The workaround could also work for your specific HP printer. If it is the case, thanks to give feedback.
