I have read all the fixes for this problem but does not work. I have the HP Officejet 5740. There must be software to transfer photos after inserting the memory card into the printer? My last printer was a Dell and it was easy. Please help. Thanks.

HI
I am facing the same issue , not able to connect to memory card on HP B110a, although the fix for windows works, but for Mac the fix suggested does not . I am not able to see the memory card and upon trying to connect to server , I am being asked for user and pass which I belive is admin user and admin pass but still it does not connect . If I select Guest user i still get the same response as 'Connection Failed '
I have checked the mac(hardware ) address and they all seem to be as suggested .
Could you suggest any other solution to this ???
Thanks in Advance
Ankit

Hi Ankit
try the following:
in the printer settings enable the password:
http://ip_address_hp_printer
Settings --> Security --> Password Settings
This will direct you to the secure (https) printer page where you can set the password.
Dependent on the security settings of your browser, you will need to confirm the exception.
In the Network Settings on the printer webpage:
Network --> Hostname
provide a hostname (HP-Printer) for example (this step is optional but makes life easier later)
On the Mac:
Open the Finder:
GO --> Connect to Server
Server Address:
cifs://HP-Printer/memory_card
or if you want to connect via the printers IP Address:
cifs://pri.nte.rsi.ppp/memory_card
A pop-Up window will open where you select:
"registered user"
admin (user)
yourpassword (Password)
if you safe the password in the keychane, you will not have to issue it every time you connect to the printer.
In the finder you will see under"Shared" either HP-Printer or the IP Address... dependent what you have selected above.
Hope this helps.
All the best

Hey Ankit
try the following:
Disconnect (eject) the printer from the shared section in the finder.
reconnect again
After you have connected to smb:\\bla\memory_card
you should see a folder named "hpscans"
pull this folder into "favorites"
This should solve two issues:
a) you do not have to browse into the folder every time
b) after a disconnect, accessing hpscans will reconnect to th eprinter and use the saved credentials in the keychain.
this worked for me pretty well.
The problem is that your credentials will expire after 5 minutes of inactivity and your mac does not reconnect properly.
Cheers

Hi Zeljko
Thanks for the quick response , when u mentioned I realised that this maybe because the printer goes into inactivity after 5 mins and hence the issue .
I will remove that just to be sure , like I mentioned this works once when I reset the router , but the folder in my case is DCIM with 100HPIO as subfolder , I will try what you suggested ( marking it as favorite ) and with power settings turned to Off . Will update later .
Cheers
Ankit

I know this is an old thread, but is this still the easiest way to transfer images from the SD to a Mac? I have an Envy 7155.
