Previously when I scanned a set of photos using the HP Smart app I could choose settings like "detect edges", set the scan area to 4x6", and set the resolution to 600dpi. After scanning each photo the app would retain those same settings so I could simply click Scan again to continue with the next photo. Now, suddenly the app resets these settings every time I scan something so that I have to re-enter these setting for every single photo scanned. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app. What else can I do? I'm still within 30 day window, thinking about returning the printer if I'm already having issues with it.

Luckily I was able to test with another computer at my home and I realized that this other computer has an older version of the HP Smart software (like 2 weeks ago old) and that version not only looks different, but behaves correctly. So it looks like the issue is the new HP Smart software update on Windows 10 Store. I'm not going to wait around hoping that HP fixes the software (that was pretty bad anyway) while I'm still within the return windows, so I'll probably be returning the printer tomorrow.
