HP Envy Photo 7100 series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I can no longer use HP Smart from my Win10 to scan from my HP Envy Photo 7100 series printer.

Works fine from my iPad and used to work from my Windows computer earlier.

No problems with printing.

Can scan if I use HP Scan but HP Smart just says Scanner Problem when clicking on Scan.

Hi @LasseC2,

I'd like to help!

Try the below suggestions-

1)Uninstall HP Smart

2)Install all the available Windows updates

If it is been a while since you updated your Windows, that is the main reason why Windows says your HP printer driver is unavailable. Here are the steps how to do a Windows Update to install all accessible operating system update.

If you are accessing Windows 10, then these steps are for you.

  1. Hit the Start menu and write an update. After that, click on the “Check for updates” option.
  2. Tap on the “Check for updates” option.
  3. After clicking on that option, Windows will install the updates automatically.
  4. When Windows completes all its updates, start your computer again and attempt to print a file to check if your printer works.

3) try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

4)Reinstall HP Smart

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi

Tried your suggestions, but the problem remains.

My Win10 is updated and so is the Printer.

I have no problems with printing, only trying to scan from HP Smart.

Thanks for trying to help me.

Try installing the HP Easy Start and then try scanning, let me know this goes!

Still not able to scan.

HP Easy start just directs me to HP Smart.

Were you able to download HP Easy Start?

Are you able to get to the printer assistant page?

Let me know!

Hi

i have the same problem.

from another computer the printer and scan work totally fine.

from my laptop, the issue is with scanning where it says 'there is a problem linked to the scanning' close the printer and try again.

did remove the HP smart and reinstall everything... still the same scanning problem.

the HP scan and capture does not work as well. Eventhough HP scan recognise my printer when i scan from the printer it says 'printer not found'

Yes

I downloaded and ran Easy Start.

My printer was found and Easy Start just recommends starting HP Smart to complete the installation.

When I start HP Smart it says printer ready and I still get the same error message trying to scan from HP Smart.

The printer assistant page has not given me any help so far.

 Let's try and uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.

--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.

--->Select your HP printer and HP Smart

--->Select Uninstall.

--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.

--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.

--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.

--->Click on the Drivers tab.

--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.

--->Select OK.

--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

--->Close Devices and Printers.

And then reinstall the printer full-featured drivers from software and drivers page

Hope this helps!

Hi

Sorry but no improvement.

Followed your instructios with no new problems, but the original problem remains.

HP Scan works, HP Smart from my iPad works, but not scanning from my Win10 using HP Smart.

Still the same error message,
