I am hopeful that the restarting of the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) Service will work.  As end users are not that tech savy I created a Scheduled Task using PowerShell to restart this service using a local admin account.

let me know how the task works, cos i've tried going down that road with no success.

Xcurtx...

I am able to verify that creating a scheduled task using PowerShell I am able to "restart" the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service thus re-enabling the connection issue when the device "sleeps" under Windows 11.  Unfortunately, the smallest time increment is 5 minutes, so the user has to wait a little bit if they find it failed.  Let me know if you need to know the settings, I used...

I see that HP have published a new driver for this product - it's here: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-scanjet-pro-2500-f1-flatbed-scanner/7440206

It explicitly mentions Window 11 compatibility so I am going to have another go.  Wish me luck!

Edited:  It didn't work, which is disappointing; you would expect a Win 11 driver to work.

I tried the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service solution that others have recommended.  It certainly worked to restore the connection after the scanner was switched on.  But if I switched it off and then on again, it was necessary to restart the WIA service again to get access to the scanner.  This is just too laborious.  I use the scanner too frequently to have to faff about like that.

So after another brief foray into Windows 11 I've restored Windows 10.

Yes i tried the new driver..... sadly it didn't work for me either. Still my best method is to extend the poweroff timer to 8 hours or restart the WIA service.
