I used your link and downloaded the October 2023 driver update for my OfficeJet Pro 6978 -- changed absolutely nothing. I can still print but I cannot scan (the test scan within the update failed) -- this lack of a solution by HP is beyond frustrating.

Use the link from HP support: https://support.hp.com/ph-en/drivers/printers
Enter the product name of your printer.
Select the driver and download "Install HP Easy Start".
Open the file in "Downloads".
You can find "HP Easy Scan version 2.0.0.2 to install and follow the instructions.

As I said in my previous post -- I have gone to that link, downloaded and installed the HP Easy Scan version 2.0.0.2 and when I get to the test scan page, I get a never-ending flywheel and it never performs the test scan.

I found on the site new firmware for my 7740.

Downloaded it, It recognizes my printer and then the message "This machine cannot be updated. This firmware update contains nu upgrades for your device"
So my hope on a solution is down the drain.

Eric7311, you are right, the version 2.0.0.2 also has that problem for me.
Yesterday I had version 2.0.0. I don't remember if there was the same problem!
Currently I see via Info: version 2.0.0. but an update date of this evening today after installing 2.0.0.2.
Scanning now works correctly for me!

Hello All,
I uninstalled all HP programs. I turned off the printer, uninstalled the printer from the Mac settings. I re-installed the "new" 2.0.0.2 easy scan software, I re-intalled the printer (Hp 6978) in the Mac settings. Same result. No scan available from the Mac Image transfer app or from the (not so) Easy HP app.
Very annoying and I may venture disrepectful from the part of HP towards users/consumers.

Sonoma pushed 14.1.1 update overnight and that, plus updating the software on my printer = success - scanner now functioning property. Your mileage may vary. I have a laser printer model - black and white all-in-one printer.
