IE has its default settings. There is Microsoft Essentials antivirus on the Windows computer. The Linux computer has no anitvirus or firewall setup.

The only rules on the firewall is the stadard: Reject incomming connections, which has not already been establiched. The router is something delivered by my ISP, Sagecom 3DK04-02.

The router could be a problem.  Do you have a "standard" router to try (non-ISP-issued)?

I don't have any other router. I was however able to get to the https protected site today. The printer had been shut down all night, and at some point the the power had been removed, so I had to reconnect it to the wifi network. At time I still get the Internal System Error though.

I registered in this forum just because I really feel forced to say publicly how embarassing the states of these printer products, their software/firmware AND the HP support staff in this forum are.

 

I have the same issue and from the descriptions of users ANY TECH-SAVVY support staff would IMMEDIATELY know that it can NOT under any circumstances be a problem of a router or security tool. It is CLEARLY an issue with the printer itself.

 

That being said the ignorance and repeated questions about possible problem sources unrelated to the printer are just plain OFFENSIVE and incompetent.

 

I have the same error message on my 3050a printer after a journey through failures, bugs and complete nonsense.

 

 - the WPS setup does not work , neither button nor PIN  (WPS error), other devices do WPS with my router just fine

 - the printer setup software fails when trying to associate the USB connected printer to the wireless network (says something about MAC filters, which DEFINITELY are not in place)

 - searching for this on the web, a workaround tells me to connect the printer to an open wifi, and then use its internal web interface to configure it with the secured wifi

 - the internal web interface throws the "internal system error" discussed in this mail thread when redirecting to the HTTPS part of itself

 

While these issues are severe enough and make this product a complete no-go for any user, there are more mindblowing ridiculous aspects about this.

 

 - the drivers / software / wizards are unnecessarily large and slow in their usage

 - the wizard is confusing when setting up a USB connected printer for wifi

 - you can't even close it in certain phases (for example you are FORCED to disconnect the USB cable before you can actually close the wizard - WHY? JUST WHY?)

 

So as a conclusion - again - this is such an amazing story of failure that this will be my last HP product to buy. I acquired my first HP printer 20 years ago and this branch of the company just got worse and worse over the years.

 

I wasted over an hour on this today - so yes - I'm frustrated. Especially since these issues have been around for a while and nobody bothers to do anything about it.

I have just purchased a 3055a and I am also getting the same error when I try to access the wireless and admin menus to configure and enable webscanning

 

As this appears to have been out standing now for a year should I return my printer to the shop or will HP offer an actual solution to this problem. I am using both Chrome and IE10 and get the exact same error on both. Im accessing on the same wireless network.

first I access the home page on my printer using the http://(ipaddress)

Then I click webscan on bottom left and get this error below

I click on the settings tab and the administrator settings is not showing until I click on the security menu, which then tried to open in https which fails. I then click cancle and Administrator settings is showing. I click that then again it opens in https and fails

So what is the fix for this. And yes I dod get the message regarding the failed certificate and chose to continue anyway. Did no one at HP test this out and the fact this is happening on many printers shows lack of QA prior to release.

It's not an exact science, but did you try the suggestion on first page?

 

"Instead of going to an HTTPS page from the HTTP page, start out in the HTTPS pages. 

Example: Normally, you would go to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to access your printer's web interface, and then you click the link to one of the HTTPS pages.

Try this: Go to httpS://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (capitalized only for effect). This will bring you to the homepage of the printer, but there won't be any information on it. Click the Settings Tab, and then the Security link. You will be brought to a screen to create a password for the Admin account for the SSL pages. Once you've created this password, it will all work the way it's supposed to."

And the post that follows that suggests to refresh the page multiple times if that doesn't work.

I did and it didnt work. Why have HP not fixed this. I only just bought my printer new yesturday from Tescos. Not impressed this has been on going for a year on more than one model.
