Another customer with the same Resend Upgrade error on an MFP M281fdw. Multiple attempts to upgrade the firmware had no effect. I'm not even going to try the 20221010 firmware update until a definitive solution, with no paper jam side effect, is provided. We've recently sunk a considerable amount of money into spare toner cartridges which we fear we'll never be able to use.

I would recommend not updating. I replaced 3 cartridges a couple of days before this all happened and have a brand new one sitting in the box so approx $800 down the drain. HP have told me that the only solution is to replace the printer at my cost as my printer is out of warranty. My printer was running perfectly fine until this firmware issue happened. Not impressed to say the least

Hello HP,
The upgrade via https://ftp.usa.hp.com/hprc/downloadFile/M280_Series_FW_Update-20220414.nativeofficefonts.exe/
is not working for me, the bar is running trough but the printer is not reacting in any way. So I guess it's not applying this fimware on the device.
Please provide followable steps on how to install the rfu firmware on the printer, from my point of view at best putting the rfu file on a USB stick an boot the device from it?
Please HELP my printer is still stuck and I also invested hundreds of euros in original catrgies I don't want to lose!!!
Thank you

HP should be able to fix the printer firmware (printer jamming) error and make that corrected firmware widely available. This is a fixable software problem and should not require buying a new printer (and if it does, I can guarantee I will NOT be buying another HP printer!! It will be from one of their competitors).

Additions to my error:
I downgraded to 2020 firmware to see if the issue would go away, which it didn't.
Today i booted the device pressing the left down corner of the display during boot to do a hard reset.
After setting up WiFi again, i tried to search for a fresh firmware what it installed over the air, so I'm now running again on 20220414 but the issue is still the same.
The display shows "Resend upgrade"every 10 seconds and the printer is dead.
From my point of view it's something regarding cartridges as they can not tell their state anymore. I only can se a ? on the status levels.
So something has so badly affected the device, that also a downgrade nor upgrade helps to solve this from my point of view. HP need to get something out to get this fixed, other then telling that a lot of hardware garbage is created (what would the ESG dept. say to this) by flipping a switch and rolling out a bad firmware.....
HP PRETTY PLEASE help to get this sorted, as I don't want to lose hundreds of euros in cartridges and a well working printer to a dumb firmware update.....

HP tech support elevated this several times. The people that call you back never leave you a message or call back number, so if you miss their call, they apparently abandon the case. I have thrown my HP printer away as well as the $250 in new cartridges that I put in to try and address the Update Error. I have a few other black toner cartridges I haven't opened, but will try and return to recoup some costs. I have bought a Brother HL-L3290CDW color laser jet to replace my HP. Best Buy was sold out and I didn't want to wait for the delivery time on Amazon, so I found the last one in stock and Office Depot. It works great and was listed #1 for value on PC Mag. I will never buy another HP printer again. The fact that these brother printers were sold out indicates to me that HP has screwed many customers with this update issue. They had plenty of HP printers in stock. The $370 printer was very cost effective when considering I spent almost 8 hours on the phone with HP tech support with them trying multiple firmware versions as well as installing an older one. This is not the most sustainable and environmental solution to throw out, what was at one time, a perfectly good printer, but I had no choice and couldn't wait another week to have a printer for my home office.

As I bought this thing in Germany and we have a lot of good customer caring legal regulations over here for cases like this.... let's see how that turns out. By for now I still hope that there are people from HP understanding this is not the way they should threat their valuable customers.

I wish I could say the same for US regulations that support customers (vs. protecting corporations) in the US. But I will wait to hear how HP will correct their printer-jam. I mean, they are known for their quality printers, or they were. We have class action lawsuits, and Better Business Bureau, but I would hope HP fixes the technical glitch they created themselves. Otherwise they will lose a lot of customers, if they can't be trusted with their own upgrades.
