Hi 

 

I loaded two ink cartridges into my printer which were sent from HP and i now have an error message saying  "hp cartridge cannot be used until.printer is.enrolled.on.hp.instant ink".

 

I looked on the forum and it said I can only use ink registered to the machine, can someone please help me with my query?

Welcome to the HP Support Forums. It sounds like the printer is either not enrolled or has dropped off the Instant Ink account. 

 

Was the printer recently replaced or exchanged? Has anyone restored network defaults on the printer?

i enrolled with instant ink when I brought the printer last year and stopped my account being on a changeable service after the free period. The printer hasnt been replaced and the ink was sent while i was on the chargeable service.

Please can you let me know to check the below?

1 if the printer is enrolled or dropped off the Instant Ink account

2. how to restore network defaults on the printer

Thanks for replying to Aardvark1's post.  🙂 I'm going to answer your second question first. 

 

To restore network defaults, please tap on the Wireless icon on the front panel of the printer. 'Restore Network Defaults' should be the last item in the Wireless menu.

 

To find out if the printer is enrolled in the Instant Ink program, please log into your old Instant Ink account.  It will let you know if the printer is still enrolled in the program or has fallen off.  If the printer is no longer enrolled in the program the Instant Ink cartridges won't work.  I've included the Cancelling Your HP Instant Ink Service for your review.

I have reset my printer to network defaults and my account was unerolled after my free 6 month period.

 

Do I have to have a paid for instant ink account to use my printer?

Since you've cancelled, if you haven't done so already, I recommend you purchase regular HP ink cartridges for your printer. If you're trying to print with Instant Ink cartridges and you're not enrolled, you'll learn quickly that they won't work unless you re-enroll.

3. Error message (if any)
