Hello HP Support,
So my first account was blocked for reasons I don't understand. But anyways, this was my problem that hasn't been solved for over a year. I need help fixing a persistent problem with HP Command Center on my HP Specter x360 16 laptop.
The problem started after I reset Windows. Since then, the Glam Cam feature in HP Command Center has stopped working. The application displays the message: "The required HP service cannot be found. Please select Download to install the HP service. Restart your PC and install any Windows updates if prompted."
When I click Download, the progress reaches 100%, but nothing happens. No installer opens, and no downloaded file appears in my Opera browser's download history. HP Command Center remains open and continues displaying the same problem.
I have tried downloading the service multiple times, restarting my laptop, installing available Windows updates, checking Windows Reliability Monitor, and inspecting the installed HP services. None of these steps has resolved the issue.
I am currently running Windows 11 Home, version 26H2. The HP services I can see include HP App Helper HSA Service, HP CASL Framework Service, HP Diagnostics HSA Service, HP Network HSA Service, and HP System Info HSA Service.
I would also like to restore the original Glam Cam privacy features that allowed my laptop to detect when someone was looking at my screen and warn me or hide the screen. I also want to restore the automatic locking feature that activates when I walk away from the laptop.
I have already tried getting help through previous discussions and other troubleshooting attempts, but I have not found a working solution. I am also currently unable to access the HP Support Community, so I would appreciate guidance on how to obtain technical assistance through an alternative support channel.
Could someone please help me identify the missing HP service, provide the correct installer for my exact laptop model, and explain why the download process reaches 100% without installing anything?
I would prefer not to reset Windows again unless absolutely necessary. And please unblock my first account
Thank you for your time and assistance.

You have cloud recovery and can always restore your PC to oroginal factory software.
HP is removing cloud recovery for system over 5 years old. The actual wording is a limited time after the warranty expires. You may want to get a copy of the cloud recovery before it is too late.
Cloud recovery provides all the custom HP drivers.
Go here and enter your product ID including the 3 characters after the # character. If you have cloud recovery you can restore your system using a 64gb flash.
It may take an hour or more to create the recovery USB. Alternately, download from the MS windows store. Click here for instructions.
This is all I could find about that glam tool

What is the product ID of your laptop including three character after the # symbol?
There is a discussion of the problem here but I have no idea what your exact model is.

Hello.
BeemerBiker, thank you very much for your help. I have managed to fix some problems that I had before. I have one last request. My Hp apps never save my previous settings. For example: MyHP app doesn't save the system mode (cool, performance) and including other HP apps that can't save my profile info. I have to keep logging in to check some things. Is it normal or is it something that can be fixed?
Thank you for your help again

Which HP applications are your referring to. Not all applications in the Microsoft Store are actually HP even though they may look like it.
This application HP App is actually khown by the name "HP App". It is used for printing only .
OK I think you mean "MyHP "
If your myHP app continuously reverts your System Control presets (like Performance, Cool, or Quiet) back to Smart Sense every time you reboot, the issue is almost always a disabled background service or a corrupted app cache.[ref_1, ref_2, ref_3]When the underlying background services are blocked, the app loses the permission it needs to save changes to your system firmware.[ref_1]
Solution 1: Enable the HP System Control Service
HP utilizes a specific background process to retain your chosen performance profiles across restarts. If you use a customized version of Windows or have strict startup optimization settings, this process might be disabled.[ref_1]
- Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type services.msc and press Enter.
- Scroll down the list and locate the service named HP System Control Service (or look for HP.SystemControl.Background.exe processes).
- Right-click the service and select Properties.
- Change the Startup type dropdown menu to Automatic.
- If the service status says "Stopped", click the Start button underneath it.
- Click Apply, then OK, and restart your laptop.[ref_1]
Solution 2: Reset the myHP App Cache
If the background service is running but settings still won't stick, the app's configuration file may be corrupted. You can force Windows to clear its memory.[ref_1, ref_2]
- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps (or Apps & features depending on your Windows version).
- Search for myHP in the app list.
- Click the three dots next to it and select Advanced options.
- Scroll down and click the Reset button. (This clears cached profiles without uninstalling the app).
- Restart your computer and try applying the Performance profile again.[ref_1, ref_2, ref_3]
Solution 3: Check Your AC Adapter Requirement
Manufacturer utilities like myHP and OMEN Gaming Hub strictly prohibit changing or locking in a true "Performance Mode" if the machine detects it is running on battery power or a low-wattage third-party USB-C charger.[ref_1, ref_2]
- Ensure your laptop is plugged into its original factory HP barrel-plug AC adapter before altering system controls.[ref_1, ref_2]
Solution 4: Bypass the App Entirely
If the myHP software continues to overwrite your preferences, you can completely bypass it by uninstalling the app and allowing Windows to natively dictate your hardware states.[ref_1]
- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps and Uninstall the myHP app.
- Open the classic Windows Control Panel (Win + R, type control, and press Enter).
- Navigate to Power Options and select a native Windows plan like High Performance or Balanced.
- Alternatively, click the battery icon on your taskbar tray and move the slider all the way to Best Performance.[ref_1, ref_2, ref_3, ref_4, ref_5]
If the setting still refuses to stick, please tell me your HP laptop model (e.g., Spectre x360, Envy, Victus) so I can see if there is a known BIOS firmware bug affecting your specific device.[ref_1, ref_2]
You may want to just uninstlal it and use the Edit Power Plan built into windows.
