Release date: February 2026
Advance Notice of Changes to Manufacturing Installed Certificates (MIC)
HP will be changing the Root CA Certificate and trust chain used for issuing the manufacturing installed certificate (MIC) new Poly products in 2026.
What’s new in 8.5.0
This release of Poly Edge E includes new features, feature enhancements, and important field fixes. This release includes the following new features and enhancements:
- The system web interface has a new look and search capabilities
- Deprecation notice: EAP authentication methods scheduled for removal in future updates
- A custom background for the Edge E 400 Series secondary display
- WPA3 support
- Synchronized call forwarding across Zoom devices
- With synchronize call forwarding , you can configure lines as read-only
- Optional configuration to remove the default paging button
- SIP connections using TLS send the SNI
The system web interface has a new look and search capabilities
The system web interface has a new look and search capabilities. Introducing a completely new look for the system web interface for the phones.
Highlights of the changes include:
-
The new dashboard details your phone's important hardware and network values
-
Light and dark modes let you customize your browsing experience
-
A new search bar quickly locates pages and their content
-
The new Configuration tool unlocks live search of thousands of settings previously only accessible by importing an XML configuration file
-
Only the administrator role can currently log in
Convenient tools to copy a displayed parameter for use in a config file
Search for web UI pages.
You know you saw a setting somewhere but can't remember what page it was on? Now you can search for pages by titles, labels and the parameters they host
Hide parameter names on the UI to
Improve accessibility for screen readers
Background management for every screen.
Primary, secondary, expansion modules and logo.
Deprecation notice: EAP authentication methods scheduled for removal in future updates
Poly announces with its next software release, PVOS 8.6, that it deprecates support for the EAP authentication methods used in 802.1X and Wi‑Fi connectivity.
The EAP authentication methods that Poly will deprecated are:
-
EAP‑MD5
-
EAP-PEAPv0-NONE
-
EAP-PWD
-
EAP-TTLS-NONE
The future PVOS 8.6 update removes access to these methods from the onscreen and system web interfaces. The deprecated EAP methods continue to operate if you previously configured the phone to do so. After you change to another authentication method, you can no longer select the EAP authentication methods from menus and the system web interface.
Customize the secondary screen background on the Poly Edge E Series phones
Now you can customize the background image or add a logo on the secondary screen for the Edge E400 series phones.
In prior releases, you could customize the background image or add a logo to the primary screen and the Expansion Module, but you couldn't customize the secondary screen on the Poly Edge E 400 Series phones.
You add the background to the phone through the new system web interface.
WPA3 support
WPA3 Wi-Fi security protocol is now available.
WPA3 Only Restriction
Administrators have the option to further restrict Wi-Fi use to only WPA3.
A setting available only in the admin menus or configuration files allows a phone to be staged so that it will scan and present only Wi-Fi Access Points that advertise WPA3 compatibility.
Note: An AP may advertise WPA3 support but not offer WPA3 on all broadcasted SSIDs. Enforcement of WPA3 can only be done when the phone tries to connect to an SSID.
Look for the (WPA3) name in the SSID list to see if your results are filtered
WPA3 Personal and WPA3 Enterprise Wi-Fi security protocols enhance wireless network protection through improved authentication, stronger cryptography, and improved password protection.
WPA3 (Wi-Fi Protected Access 3)
The latest, most secure Wi-Fi encryption standard, replacing the WPA2 standard introduced in 2004.
Edge E offers both WP3-Personal and WPA3-Enterprise connectivity using a variety of authentication methods
- SAE Passphrase
- EAP-TLS (Certificates)
- PEAP or TTLS - MSCHAPv2
- PEAP or TTLS - GTC
WPA3-Enterprise 192bit High security
- Edge E series – not supported
Synchronized call forwarding across Zoom devices
Call forwarding state now synchronizes between all Zoom devices sharing an account.
When sharing or delegating a line with others, control of the forwarding state can be restricted to only some of the line's users.
With synchronize call forwarding, you can configure lines as read-only
When you configure the call forwarding services to synchronize with the call server, you can configure a given line as read-only.
This allows users with shared or delegated lines more control over which users of their line can enable or change forwarding modes and the contact targets.
reg.x.serverFeatureControl.cf.readonly="1"
voIpProt.SIP.serverFeatureControl.cf.readonly="1"This is applicable to any call platform that permits Call Forward synchronization using SIP Subscribe to the as-feature-event package, notably:
- Cisco Broadworks
- Metaswitch
- Zoom
Merge a remotely active call to create a 4+ way network conf
A Zoom conferencing workflow improvement to allow an administrative assistant to join 2 separate calls together into a single conference.
The crux of this enhancement let's a user press and hold the linekey of a remotely active call on a different SIP line to surface a Join softkey.
Use Case Walkthrough:
- A manager is on a call with someone.
The manager's line is delegated to an admin assistant's phone. - The assistant has been instructed to contact someone and once they are available, conference them in with the manager.
Assume the assistant is ready and is on a call with the 3rd party. - The admin assistant can use the shared Manager line's Join feature to merge themselves onto the call with the Manager (3-way call).
- The admin assistant can then press and hold again the line key of their old call and press Join resulting in a 4-way call.
No configuration is required for this change but in most cases it does rely on the below parameter that was added earlier in 8.4.1
voIpProt.SIP.conference.multiReg="1"
Optional configuration to remove the default paging button
You can now remove the default paging button using configuration files.
Customizing your softkeys can ensure that the actions you take most often are available without scrolling through rows of softkeys using the More button.
The default Paging softkey can now be removed:
feature.showPagingSoftKey.enable="0"
Server Name Indication (SNI) support for SIP over TLS
SIP connections using TLS now send the SNI extension in the client hello.
SNI permits the phone to specify the hostname it's connecting to during the connection's initial handshake, allowing a server to host multiple SIP services at a single IP address.
Server Name Indication (SNI) is a TLS/SSL extension that lets a client specify the hostname it's trying to reach during the initial handshake, allowing a single IP address to host multiple secure (HTTPS) websites, each with its own certificate, solving the problem of limited IPv4 addresses and enabling virtual hosting for encrypted sites
Note: We've supported SNI for configuration and software provisioning since UCS 5.7 (2018)
Savi D400 Compatibility
CCX phones now properly identify and support the D400 DECT USB adapter and its associated headset tops without the need to perform any manual reboots of the desk phone.
